My name is Russell Theaker and I am the proprietor of The Cane and Rush Workshop.
I have been restoring cane, rush and other types of woven furniture for many years and have built a reputation over that time for my high standard of work, owing to the extensive training I received, alongside my passion for the traditional methods I use to restore.

I successfully completed my training in what was one of the last remaining cane and rush workshops in the High Wycombe area, a town which has its roots embedded in the chair makers trade, establishing it as the chair making capital of the world in the 19th and 20th centuries.  On completion of my training I progressed to working in the main workshop, restoring cane and rush seated chairs.

The techniques used can be traced back over 100 years, when the workshop was originally Holt and Son, a leading cane and rush chair maker founded in 1907.  The methods applied are no different now to how they were back then, using the same hand-held tools to weave beautiful designs.  It is the absolute dedication to the finer points of the craft that makes the finished work stand out.
